Happy first day of March, all! The Morrison Planetarium states that about two hours after sunset tonight the moon and Saturn will rise side-by-side, about 7 degrees apart in the east against the stars of Virgo. Mars, already well above the horizon at sunset, will be nearly overhead by moonrise and is quite visibly red from my backyard. That gave me a nice thrill when I saw it last night, and here are a few more things that are inspiring me right now. You can play along too: please leave something that is currently making you happy in this post's comments, and we will all enjoy.
I'll get things started:
- Still so happy I got to see Four Tet Friday night
- Tilda Swinton is a goddess and has been on some pretty awesomely-designed movie posters besides. They only left out Conceiving Ada.
- Criterion's release of Hunger, the best film I saw last year
- Vintage embroidered ribbon
From last month's comments:
- Hawaiian Starlight film
- The number of times the word "science" appears in news reports about the White House budget
