alchemy

Saturday evening, after being treated to a delicious vegetarian Canvas Underground dinner by Carrie, on the way home I dropped by False Profit's annual Alchemy party just to check out the scene.  I arrived while the fashion show presented by Missing Piece was in full swing, a flashy affair complete with a performance by futuristic clown drag queens one moment and then models sporting dramatic feather necklaces worthy of Alexander McQueen the next.  The party itself was organized around a circus theme and featured interactive art projects aplenty, and I noted that I was not the only nostalgic hipster who felt pulled toward the Shrinky Dinks table.  Otherwise I exercised more observation than participation, as is my custom, and because I was also feeling a little drab amongst all the painted ladies on this particular night I made an early escape.
