Persepolis is one of my favorite films of recent years, and it was very nice to stay in tonight and watch it with Aimee, who had not seen it yet. Chances are you already know that it's an adaptation (and a gorgeous one at that) of Marjane Satrapi's acclaimed autobiographical graphic novels that tell of her childhood in Iran as the country underwent revolution, war and oppressive religious fanaticism in quick succession. So rather than blathering on about the movie I'm just going to quote Marjane's awesome grandmother, whose words really should become my mantra:
