Recently closed - Wall of Sound at Steven Wolf Fine Arts. This was a very punk rock show indeed, featuring the work of a slew of West Coast artist/musicians. The highlight for me was a loose leaf book by local heroine Penelope Houston consisting of hand-tinted xeroxes that were so light they looked solarized, chock full of Avengers imagery and lore. Other collage techniques were also masterfully utilized by the likes of David J. and Exene Cervenka, and it was neat too to see the vintage photographs by Fayette Hauser of Malcolm McLaren and such. I deeply regret not posting anything here in time so that other music nerds could go enjoy the show, but instead I recommend listening to Steven Wolf's recent appearance on Margaret Tedesco's KUSF in Exile show Roll Call.
