Obsessive readers might recall that not too long ago I was raving about the first part of the exhibition at Kala featuring four of their nine 2010-11 Fellowship artists. Well, part two is up right now, and it rules equally hard. This time the remaining five artists present their work, and you do not want to miss either Elisheva Biernoff's darkly hilarious book about a series of natural disasters that befall a small town or Jennie Ottinger's clever stop motion animation that incorporates her own hand-painted characters from Candide. I also loved both Zachary Royer Scholz's collage-like pattern pieces and Jessica Ingram's sweetly melancholic photographs of overly optimistic signage, and you should have heard me gasp out loud when I peered into one of Renée Gertler's sculptures to find an entire universe reflected within. Intrigued? I hope you are.
