Last Monday night I was able to make it to Galería de la Raza not only for their monthly Lunada full moon literary lounge and open mic but also to see the excellent group show Home After Dark before it closed. Curated by the always-awesome John Jota Leaños and cohort Carolina Ponce de León, the exhibition featured new work by a dozen young Latino artists whose art addresses topics as diverse as border issues, gender roles, disease, conflict, and memory. Even though the show is now down there's always something interesting going on at the gallery; check their website to see what's coming up. And if you become a supporter you get into many events for free and also get to choose between two very cool posters. Just sayin'.
